MÁXIMO (Coimbra, 2003) is mainly a composer and pianist.

The success of ‘Greatest Hits’, his debut album released in 2023, introduced the world to his cinematic and melancholic compositions written between the ages of 9 and 19.

Meanwhile, ‘PANGEA’, recorded with his jazz trio, is a musical journey through the seasons, influenced by the eco-anxiety linked to climate change. Máximo’s discography has taken him all over Portugal – Nos Alive, Boom Festival, Bons Sons, Matosinhos em jazz – and to various countries and cities, such as Japan, London and Paris.

Having started composing at a very young age, for Máximo, creativity and creation came before technique. To support his creations, he played classical piano at the Lisbon National Conservatory ages 7 to 18 and then graduated with a degree in jazz composition in Rotterdam. Alongside this academic journey, Máximo displays a unique aptitude for fusing various musical styles, which has opened the door to diverse cultural worlds:

Soundtracks for movies and theatre pieces, an official theme for ModaLisboa and a performance in a fashion show, concerts in art galleries (national and international), performances that bring together contemporary dance and poetry (‘Obscuro Domínio’, RTP2 and 'Quintas de Leitura, Porto). In the meantime, he also released ‘Residência’, an incursion into trap and electronica with baroque ornaments and absolutely destroyed voices. ‘PANGEA’, whose last track (of the same name) was made the official song of the Portuguese Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka, where he also performed.

Máximo is preparing a new album to be released in the beginning of 2027.

2026

  •  Amongst many solo piano performances, he one at Bons Sons festival stands out
  •  Máximo joins XINOBI (live) for an epic concert at NOS Alive 2026
  •  The PANGEA tour once again takes place in various locations across Portugal: Oeiras, Jazz em Matosinhos, B.Leza (Lisbon), Vila Real, etc...
  • Participates in the ART'INATEL artist-in-residence programme
  • Releases 'Cantiga Bailada', premiered in BOOM Festival, made with sampled voices of "adufeiras" from Idanha-A-Nova

2025

  •  In collaboration with XINOBI, ‘September 31st’  is released.
  •  ‘Pangea’ is Portugal's official song at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
  •  Japan piano solo tour in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.
  •  PANGEA Tour with concerts in BOOM festival, NOS Alive, Porto (Passos Manuel), Coimbra (Salão Brazil), Lisboa (LuxFragil), Rotterdam (Bird) and more.
  •  Records 'Ocupação', a live performance for RTP Palco
  •  Composes original music for 'Lago dos Cisnes' by Daniel Gorjão and André Tecedeiro, a re-creation of 'Swan Lake' for theatre.
  •  Participates in a Carlos Paredes tribute concert in CCB with two original arrangements.

2024

  •  Releases 'PANGEA', an album that " was composed over the course of a year, aims to translate the annual cycle into a musical journey, capturing in an impressionistic manner the contrasts and moods of each season"
  •  Releases 'Residência.', product of an artist residency in Portalegre with Plástico
  • Concert at the Camden Open Air Gallery, London
  • Performance at the Jazzy Colors Festival in Paris, at the invitation of the Camões Institute
  •  Releases 'MALHA', which was the soundtrack of the Lisboa Fashion Week - Singular edition, followed by a special concert during the same event

2023

  • Participates (with original music) in ‘Obscuro Domínio’, a film/show by Daniel Gorjão for RTP
  •  Release of 3 videoclips of songs from the ‘Greatest Hits’ album
  •  Champalimaud Foundation ‘Prémios Visão’ with an original arrangement of Carlos Paredes' Verdes Anos , artistic direction by Luís Varatojo

  •  Composition of the soundtrack for the short film ‘Agosto de 74’ by Duarte Carvalho
  •  Individual masterclass in Mexico City with pianist Anthony Tamayo
  •  Performance at the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation with the artist's iconic piece Piano Dentelle #3, as part of ARCOlisboa
  •  Artistic residency in Panama at La Escuelita del Ritmo
  •  Features in Xinobi's music video and plays with him at the Belém Cultural Centre in Lisboa
